The Bayou Region is home to a wide range of parks, recreational venues and activities that include top-ranked golf courses, newly-built sports complexes, organized soccer and softball leagues, biking and running clubs, and powerboat racing. No matter your activity level, Houma-Thibodaux’s parks and recreation facilities have something to offer.
The Terrebonne Bayou Country Sports Park is scheduled to bring extensive recreational opportunities to the area’s existing park network. The offerings will include baseball and softball fields, soccer fields, tennis courts, sand volleyball courts, walking and birding paths, playground and splash pads, a skate park and a dog park. All of these are unique regional offerings for the Houma-Thibodaux parks and recreation system.
Golf courses are abundant in the region. Atchafalaya at Idlewild was named one of Louisiana’s 10 best courses by Golf Digest.
Lake End Park in Morgan City, typically serene with quiet trails and peaceful water views, transforms itself when normally placid waters become turbulent when 1,500 horsepower powerboats race across the water at speeds up to 170 mph.
Bayou Runners Association and Bayou Country Cyclists organize road races for the growing ranks of running and biking enthusiasts in the community.
Open green spaces, waterfront activities and access to so many venues and activities makes the Bayou Region for a perfect setting to enjoy the great outdoors.
