With dozens of fairs and festivals, fishing rodeos, concerts and events spanning the annual calendar, it is easy to dive deep into the culture, history and fun for which the Bayou Region is renowned.
Popular local bands are featured at musical events, such as Houma’s Best of the Bayou Fest – a free event with multiple music stages that has hosted bluesman Tab Benoit and rockers like Better Than Ezra – and the Larose Civic Center’s French Food Fest Rocks with musical headliners like Bret Michaels.
Many of the region’s festivals celebrate the unique cuisine of the region, typically involving gumbo, jambalaya, beignets and fresh seafood. These festivals include:

Food and crafts markets take place each week, while residents also enjoy access to fun annual festivals year-round like downtown Houma’s Rougarou Fest, which celebrates the history folklore of the region, and the Chauvin Folk Art Festival, a celebration of the area’s art and music scene.
