The Nicholls State University Jubilee is a lively six-week-long annual celebration of the arts and humanities in and around Thibodaux. From history lectures and art openings to culinary demonstrations and live theater, the Jubilee presents an engaging line-up of events meant to stimulate discussion and raise awareness about art, music, culture and history. Originally established in 1998 to mark the university’s 50th anniversary, the Jubilee takes place in campus locations and in various regional venues.

Events include:

  • Culinary demonstrations hosted by NSU’s Chef John Folse Culinary Institute to illuminate Louisiana’s unique cuisine
  • An inside look at how artists work, hosted by the NSU Art Department
  • Lectures on topics such as pre-Columbian pottery and the American Civil Rights Movement
  • Live theater for both children and adults at the Thibodaux Playhouse
  • The Louisiana Swamp Stomp, a festival spotlighting local and regional musicians and the history and culture of the Bayou Region
  • Opera and gospel performances
