The Bayou Region is home to a number of anchor companies and employers in Houma-Thibodaux that collectively provide jobs to thousands across the region, taking advantage of the highly trained and qualified workforce the area has to offer.

  • Bollinger Shipyards is a leader in maritime construction and serves the needs of the U.S. Coast Guard, the U.S. Navy and other commercial operations.   • Danos is one of the largest oilfield service companies in the region and a construction and asset management services provider to major oil and gas companies. The company’s new $10 million headquarters is in Gray, less than 10 miles from Houma. Frequently recognized for best-in-class safety and environmental practices, Danos received the 2013 Chevron North American E&P PRAISE Award in recognition of the company’s accomplishments in safety and environmental compliance.

  • Edison Chouest Offshore is one of the world’s top providers of marine transportation solutions and comprises a family of companies that operates more than 200 diverse, high-capacity marine vessels. The company’s headquarters are located in Cut Off, less than 30 miles from Houma, employing a workforce of more than 6,000 across the region and supporting a global customer base and five shipyards throughout Louisiana, Florida and Brazil.

  • John Deere of Thibodaux ranked No. 86 on the 2013 Fortune 500 list. John Deere is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of agricultural machinery. The company employs more than 500 at its facility in Thibodaux, which functions as the world’s largest sugarcane equipment manufacturer and services cane farmers located both in Louisiana and across the world.

  • Oceaneering International, Inc. is a key subsea and deepwater service provider to the nation’s energy industry based. The Houston-based company's regional headquarters in Morgan City has more than 1,500 employees and supports the company’s five Louisiana operational bases. In 2014, Forbes magazine named Oceaneering one of the nation’s largest energy and engineering employers with more than 12,000 employees across the world. Forbes magazine also named Oceaneering the No. 1 Most Trustworthy Large Cap Company in America in recognition of its corporate and social responsibility practices.

  • Terrebonne General Medical Center is one of the region’s premier healthcare facilities and a top employer for the region with more than 1,400 employees. Nationally-accredited by the Joint Commission on Healthcare Organizations, Terrebonne General is the largest community-based hospital in the Bayou Region and has also been nationally recognized for excellence in areas ranging from employee satisfaction and innovation in programming to patient safety.
